IONTOX is working in collaboration with Dr. Melvin E. Anderson, Ph.D., DABT, CIH and Dr. Harvey J. Clewell III, Ph.D., DABT of ScitoVation (Formerly The Hamner Institute) to finalize a pharmacokinetic model to be used in conjunction with the Dynamic Multiple Organ Plate. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Clewell have over 80 years of combined experience in the field and are world leaders in developing realistic models to assess the safety and potential health risks of chemicals and drugs.
The Model and simulation software will effectively scale data from the DMOP and predict the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) of chemical substances in humans.
The movement of drugs and chemicals through the DMOP can be described using pharmacokinetic models. The ability to translate data generated in the DMOP to actual human drug kinetics enhances the DMOP’s ability to predict drug impact in humans prior to performing expensive clinical trial studies. Understanding drug movement and potential adverse effects prior to entering these studies will significantly reduce the cost of drug development.
